Hey John -
Dan Crenshaw here. I hope you are well.
China’s malicious lies and attempted cover-up helped spread the COVID-19 pandemic around the world, and it has cost countless American lives and livelihoods. That’s why I am working to hold the communist regime accountable.

Now, here’s your issue brief on China:
WHAT CHINA DID IS UNACCEPTABLE
China lied about the ability of COVID-19 to spread from human-to-human. They jailed doctors and silenced whistleblowers who dared to warn the world about the coming pandemic. And they tried to cover up their failure to contain the spread of this virus. These actions led to lives lost around the world, including American lives, and the upending of our economy and jobs in this country.
A key report from the Associated Press ([link removed]) detailed how the communist regime waited six days - almost a full week - after they learned about the virus to warn the world. The Chinese government banned domestic flights in China, but failed to stop international flights going outside of China even when they knew of the severity of COVID. And the list goes on.
These malicious actions are unacceptable, and China must answer for its wrongdoing.

EMPOWERING AMERICANS TO HOLD CHINA ACCOUNTABLE
As we see increasing evidence that China’s actions have harmed Americans, many are asking a simple question: what can we do about it? That’s why I have introduced a plan that would empower Americans to hold China accountable.
My bill - that I’ve introduced with Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) - would allow Americans to sue the Chinese government over coronavirus damages. This bill amends the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act so that the communist regime is not immune from scrutiny and punishment in the aftermath of COVID-19 that has inflicted great harm upon the American people.

GETTING CONTROL OF OUR SUPPLY CHAIN BACK FROM CHINA
But covering up their failure to contain the spread of COVID-19 and lying about the origins of this virus aren’t the only malicious actions by the Chinese government during this pandemic. While the world was in desperate need of personal protective equipment, China hoarded key resources like masks and ventilators and used these life-saving materials as leverage to gain an edge over international competitors like the United States.
Why was this possible? Because China has control over key aspects of the international supply chain.
That’s why I’m working to regain control of our manufacturing supply chain back from China so that we aren’t relying on President Xi for these supplies during a crisis.
We need to strategically separate ourselves from China when it comes to manufacturing - especially when it comes to the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals and personal protective equipment. Not only will this relieve a reliance on China which cost us greatly during this pandemic, but it will also bring jobs back from China and help boost our economic recovery in the aftermath of the global pandemic they unleashed upon the world.
This is a priority for me, and I’m working to find needed solutions taking back control of our supply chain.
