Dear John:
C-Fam and the pro-life cause at the UN have seen a great victory in recent days.
We have been fighting for the past two years to get the Trump administration to send a diplomatic cable to foreign governments telling them the U.S. will not accept “reproductive health” in UN documents. In the past few days this has happened. Halleluiah!
This has not been an easy fight. There has been great resistance to this from inside the administration and even from at least one major pro-life group that believes “reproductive health” is a “clean term.” Nothing could be further from the truth.
“Reproductive health” was created in order to advance a right to abortion without using the word “abortion.”
In the coming days the UN General Assembly will begin to meet. As to be expected, the nations of Europe, aligned with powerful UN agencies, and fabulously wealthy U.S. foundations and organizations, will work to thwart this important development.
The Trump administration cannot do this alone. C-Fam will be working closely with the administration and with foreign governments to stop “reproductive health” from entering into the documents to be negotiated in the coming weeks.
Believe me, there will be huge opposition. What’s more, some of the opposition will come from inside the U.S. State Department.
In order to press this fight, I need to focus all my energy on this fight and not on the ever-present pressure of fundraising.
C-Fam gets by on a pittance compared to our opponents who get money from governments and from left-wing billionaires.
I have to sweat it out every two weeks to make payroll and to pay our basic bills.
