Dear NRDC Activist,
The Trump administration has just launched another salvo against the
environment, wildlife, and the Endangered Species Act (ESA) — this time
targeting critical wildlife habitats.
Trump's Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are proposing to add a new definition of
"habitat" under the ESA that, if finalized, will make it much more
difficult to protect habitat critical for the survival and recovery of
endangered species.
NRDC is fighting back — but we need your help to stop this:
[ [link removed] ]The FWS is accepting public comments on the administration's reckless
anti-wildlife proposal, but only until September 4.

This insidious proposal would make it more difficult to protect and
restore habitat historically used by a species, as well as habitat that
could be vital as species move in response to climate change.
But that's not all: this latest assault on the ESA is a gift to big
polluters, like oil and gas companies, mining companies, and other
extractive industries that wish to exploit areas that might otherwise be
protected as critical habitat for endangered wildlife.
If endangered species are going to recover, we must protect and restore
the places they used to live. [ [link removed] ]Submit your public comment REBUKING this
proposal before the September 4 deadline and help us save the habitat of
imperiled species — it only takes a minute to do your part!
Thanks
to the ESA, 99 percent of listed species have been saved from extinction —
like the iconic bald eagle and the gray wolf — and many more are on the
path to recovery. But the Trump administration's unconscionable rollback
of the law's protections and this latest attack on the habitats these
species need to survive, and recover, will only lead to dire consequences
for wildlife already at the brink.
With 1 million species worldwide at risk of extinction — many within our
lifetime — and climate change and ecosystem degradation hastening their
decline, we should be doing everything in our power to protect wildlife
and their habitats. That means working to strengthen, not weaken, our
nation's best tool for helping to prevent extinction.
[ [link removed] ]Please, before it's too late, submit your comment opposing the Trump
administration's latest assault on our wildlife and the environment.
Thank you for all that you do. It truly makes a difference.
Sincerely,
Lucas Rhoads
