Whew.

After a whirlwind week, you and I are back where we started – in the midst of an epic battle for our Fourth Amendment rights.

On Wednesday, the U.S. House passed a 3-year extension of FISA Section 702 and sent it to the Senate . . .

. . .after delayed votes, a congressman running from a hearing to avoid voting, conflicting deals made by Speaker Mike Johnson, and many self-proclaimed “privacy advocates” voting for warrantless spying on Americans.

And we were told the phones were ringing off the hooks in congressional offices – thanks to good patriots like you!

The House bill went to the Senate, which quickly punted on Thursday and sent back a 45-day extension of Section 702.

With just hours to go until Section 702 expired, the House had to vote again. Members were already headed to the airport or some were already out of town.

The House barely voted in favor of the 45-day extension.

So now it’s time to re-group and buckle up for another battle to stop the Spy State.

According to Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD), the Senate is finally ready to “reform” Section 702 of FISA.

But you and I MUST keep a watchful eye on whatever comes out in the next few weeks.

It’s unfortunate you and I need to make our representatives squirm.

But when they aren’t being honest with us, and they aren’t respecting the Constitution, it’s our job to hold their feet to the fire.

We’ll be asking you to step up again over the next several weeks: making the phone calls, asking the questions . . . telling Congress to be accountable and respect our rights.

And because of your efforts, we will ultimately prevail!
