Hello, Friends —

This week, the Senate left town for August without coming to an agreement on a coronavirus relief package. This is shameful. We can’t abandon our fellow citizens because Congress is too immature to reach an agreement.

Thankfully, despite Congress’s dereliction of its duties, President Trump has taken bold steps to provide Americans with necessary relief from evictions, student loans, and more — all while helping to broker a historic peace agreement between two of our allies: Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

On Thursday, I joined my colleagues, Ambassador Espina and Representative Gonzalez, in an essay on the importance of containing China’s influence in the Western Hemisphere. The U.S. can, and must, be a strong ally and neighbor, while simultaneously achieving its national and homeland security goals. Click HERE to read the full piece.

SUPPORTING AMERICAN FAMILIES

President Trump has taken action to support American families and to provide resources to those impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, including:

  • Signing a presidential memorandum to provide temporary payroll tax relief for American families who have been hit hard by the coronavirus,
  • Ensuring Americans who have lost their jobs and want to return to work have the unemployment benefits they need during this crisis,
  • Signing an executive order to ensure Americans facing financial hardships due to the coronavirus do not face eviction or foreclosure, and
  • Providing student loan relief for Americans who have faced financial harm from the coronavirus and subsequent economic shutdown.

Amazon’s relationship with the Southern Poverty Law Center came up during a Capitol Hill hearing that took place late last month. Rep.
