Governor Hogan's historic bipartisan interstate compact to acquire millions of accurate and rapid point-of-care antigen tests is gaining momentum with Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson and Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo joining this week. Meanwhile, Maryland is making dramatic progress on the fight against the pandemic, reporting a record low COVID-19 positivity rate, as well as declining hospitalizations.

Governor Hogan Discusses His National COVID Leadership At Hoover Institution Event As Two More States Join Bipartisan Interstate Testing Compact

Governor Hogan held a virtual event with the Hoover Institution to discuss his national leadership of the state-level COVID-19 response. 

This comes as Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson and Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo announced [link removed] that they are joining Governor Hogan’s bipartisan interstate testing compact. With this addition, the historic compact has now been expanded to ten governors— including five Republicans and five Democrats— who are collectively securing five million accurate and rapid point-of-care antigen tests. 

Meanwhile, with over 1.5 million tests conducted, Maryland is reporting [link removed] another record low COVID-19 seven-day average positivity rate, reaching 3.49% this morning. In addition, hospitalizations continue to decline with ICU levels falling more than 29% since July 25th.

Governor Hogan Demonstrates “Common Sense” and “Leadership” on Testing, Schools​  

Articles from The Washington Post [link removed] and The Hill [link removed] are applauding Governor Hogan for his “common sense" and "leadership” in this crisis. In recent days, Governor Hogan has successfully “banded together” a group of seven governors “to drive the manufacturing and purchase of rapid screening tests on a large scale” and issued an order to prevent private and parochial schools from being treated differently than public schools.
