Fellow Conservative,
Together, the entire Heritage enterprise is standing up to the radical extremism of the Left.
On Thursday, Heritage Action and The Heritage Foundation officially kicked-off the Fight for America grassroots campaign at an Iowa Town Hall with Vice President Mike Pence.
If you missed the livestream of the event, you can still watch it here. <[link removed]>
At the police-centered Town Hall, Jessica Anderson introduced Heritage Action’s Pro-Police Pledge <[link removed]> for citizens, candidates, and elected officials. >>> Sign Here <<< <[link removed]>
We need our elected officials to go on record against the “defund the police” movement. And as conservative activists and Americans, we need to call on them to do so.
Vice President Pence told law enforcement officers and business owners in attendance as well as thousands of viewers online, “You have a President, you have an Administration, that is committed to law and order and to supporting the men and women who serve on the thin blue line.”
Pence stressed that there is no right to riot and destroy in the Constitution. “The right of peaceful assembly, the right of peaceful protest, is as old as the nation. But let’s be clear, burning churches is not protest,” Pence said. “Tearing down statues is not peaceful protest. People who destroy businesses and destroy properties and destroy statues will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Justice will be served.”
Heritage Action Executive Director Jessica Anderson told The Daily Signal <[link removed]>, “Vice President Pence has stood strong for law enforcement while the left has let them down.”
Join us in the #FightForAmerica against the Left’s extremism by advocating for American values and institutions, supporting law enforcement in our communities, calling for accountability within our education system, and reminding our neighbors to vote for American values this November!
Grassroots activists across the country are already leading the charge in their communities. Check out their stories below and share your own with us! Stories from Fight for America
Pre-emptive “Back the Blue” rally outside Bethlehem, Pennsylvania City Hall
100 pro-police activists anticipated the Left’s agenda to defund the police playing out in their city when Bethlehem City Council hosted a public forum to “discuss issues surrounding systemic racism,” so they held a rally <[link removed]> outside the meeting at City Hall with American flags, patriotic music, and signs supporting law enforcement. Rally organizer Greg Gagni says he and other rally-goers are concerned the City
Council’s initiative will lead to an effort to defund the city’s police, so they decided to go on offense and show their support for the police as a vital service to the community. City Councilors were sure to get the message as they received dozens of emails ahead of their meeting urging them to support the police, and they heard passersby honking approvingly at the crowd outside their meeting.
Election Integrity Training
Voting to back the blue is crucial! Heritage Action Sentinels in New Mexico hosted an election integrity training for activists on August 8th. Attendees were trained to become election challengers, which in NM is someone who has the authority to challenge signatures and ballots on election day. Not every state has election challengers, but most have poll watchers and poll workers. If you're interested in being a poll watcher in November, reach out to your local election office or find more information here. <[link removed]>
“FUND THE POLICE” - Providing Protective Equipment to Portland Officers
Young Republicans of Oregon are raising funds <[link removed]> to provide officers of the Portland Police Department with eye protection and body armor. For over 70 consecutive nights, violence has taken
place in the streets of Portland with rioters even using improvised explosives and eye-damaging lasers. Multiple officers have lost eyesight and suffered other injuries as a result. Organizers’ goal is to raise $15,000, stating “The brave men and women of the Portland Police Bureau are putting their health and safety on the line for our lives, our liberties, and our pursuit of happiness. Let's give back! While the silent majority waits to speak with our ballots on November 3rd, let's show them who we are with our wallets. FUND THE POLICE! <[link removed]>”
500 patriots in Massachusetts rallied to “Back the Blue”
500 people in Westford, Massachusetts showed support <[link removed]> for their local police department, whose officers have been subjected to hateful remarks in person and online and having bottles thrown at them while responding to calls. The crowd waved at cars passing by while many motorists honked their horns in approval. Westford Police Chief Thomas McEnaney appeared at the rally and thanked those in attendance <[link removed]> for their support. BLM protested the Back the Blue rally down the road, but only managed 20 attendees.
Giving Back to our Law Enforcement Community
As we shared with you last week, Greenville County, South Carolina residents raised $3,000 at a recent “DEFEND the Police” rally. This week, leaders presented a check <[link removed]> to Sheriff Hobart Lewis and the Greenville Sheriff's Foundation. The funds will go towards scholarships for children of law enforcement officers and support staff in the county.
Choice in Education Protest
Taking on the Left’s stranglehold on our schools is important for instilling civics and American principles in the rising generation. Parents need to be involved and have more choice over their children’s education.
Hundreds of parents and students <[link removed]> protested in favor of choice in education and reopening of schools as their local school district in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania was advocating online-only learning for the first 9-weeks of the school year. The protestors want the ability to make the choice of whether to attend in person, citing the social needs and overall well being of the children as a key factor to consider.
As we continue to #FightForAmerica, be on the lookout for more stories from the front lines, and be sure to sign the pledge at www.PolicePledge.com <[link removed]> and then ask your elected officials to sign <[link removed]> as well.
Thank you!
