[ [link removed] ]Katie Porter for Governor
John, here’s
something Californians are tired of: Politicians who promise one thing in
public—and another thing behind closed doors.
For years my opponent, Xavier Becerra, said he supported single-payer
health care. He was still posting about it just weeks ago.
But now that he needs support from powerful health care corporations and
insiders to win this race? Suddenly, he’s “not supportive” anymore.
Working families don’t get to “backpedal” when groceries cost too much.
Parents don’t get to “pivot” when child care costs more than rent.
Californians rationing insulin don’t get to tell the pharmacy they’ve
decided health care isn’t a priority right now.
Too many politicians decide their principles are negotiable the minute
powerful interests lean on them.
Not me.
I’ve spent my career holding powerful people accountable—Big Oil
executives, Wall Street banks, giant corporations, and the politicians who
protect them.
I’m fighting for single-payer health care like Medicare for All because
health care is a right.
I’m fighting for free child care because parents shouldn’t choose between
their kids and their careers.
I’m fighting for tuition-free public college because students shouldn’t
start adulthood buried in debt.
And unlike some people in this race, I’m not selling out my values because
it’s what lobbyists or wealthy donors want.
I’m fighting for working Californians. Period.
