Email from Jamie for Louisiana The Supreme Court of the United States ruled in favor of stripping the Voting Rights Act of a key provision that guaranteed federal and state districts with minority representation. Jim Cr John, The Supreme Court of the United States ruled in favor of stripping the Voting Rights Act of a key provision that guaranteed federal and state districts with minority representation. In one fell swoop, they have given Republican legislatures across the Deep South the go-ahead to eliminate every majority black district. As many as 25 congressional seats as well as hundreds of state legislature seats, are now on the chopping block. The Voting Rights Act brought about the end of Jim Crow. With this key provision removed, we are one step closer to its return: The case that spurred this ruling began when a group of MAGA voters in Shreveport, Louisiana, claimed that Louisiana’s Congressional maps, which complied with the Voting Rights Act, were “racist against white people.” The extremist GOP super majority in the Louisiana State House and Senate already has new maps ready to go that will eliminate nearly all black representation at the federal and state level. The only thing they were waiting on was this ruling, and now they’ve got it. They want to see us go back to Jim Crow and lose our hard-fought representation. In November 2026, we have what could be our last chance to stand against this: the race for Louisiana’s US Senate Seat. My name is Jamie Davis, I’m a farmer and am the Democrat running for US Senate here in Louisiana. My family worked the same Louisiana delta that I farm today, first as slaves and later as sharecroppers. My message to MAGA is simple: we aren’t going back. Momentum is on our side here. The MAGA base is demoralized, and only a fraction of it is projected to vote in November. Louisianans are blaming Trump for rising living and fuel prices, and against all odds in a deep red Louisiana state House district, a Democrat just won by a landslide. The time to make our last stand and elect Louisiana’s first black Senator is now (or it may be never). Please can you make a donation of whatever you can spare to capitalize on this once-in-a-lifetime moment and fuel our last-ditch effort for fair representation in Louisiana? Nothing is too big or too small - the contributions will add up. One out of every three Louisianans are black, yet despite this, only a few Black citizens have ever represented our state in Congress, and none have ever been elected to the US Senate. This is our last stand. It’s now or never.
