Dear Friends,

It’s almost that time of the year again!

I’m excited to invite you to my 3rd Annual Pride Kick-Off fundraiser on Friday, June 5th from 6–8 PM. A joyful evening to celebrate our community, reflect on our progress, and look ahead to the work still to come.

As the first and only openly LGBTQ+ member of City Council, this gathering means a great deal to me. It’s a chance to come together in solidarity, especially at a time when LGBTQ+ rights continue to face challenges at the national level. Pride is not only a celebration, it’s a reminder of our resilience, our shared values, and the importance of showing up for one another.

Over the past year, I’ve been proud to advance initiatives centered on our community in Council, including hosting the first City Council LGBTQ+ health fair during National LGBTQ+ Health Awareness week, convening LGBTQ+ small business leaders to better understand and support their needs and launching an open call for local LGBTQ+ artists from across the city to be featured in a Pride exhibit at historic city hall as part of America’s 250th anniversary. And soon, my office will convene the first ever LGBTQ+ health hearing examining disparities in health care coverage and access facing our community, especially in the wake of federal cuts.

This year’s Pride Kick-Off is also especially meaningful, it will be my last before I begin my re-election campaign. If you’ve supported what I’ve been doing in City Council – whether that’s pushing through the landmark ICE OUT package with Minority Leader Kendra Brooks, updating our Fair Chance Hiring laws to give more Philadelphians a chance at meaningful work, or expanding access for restaurateurs to access outdoor dining options – I hope you’ll consider making a contribution toward this fundraiser.

Your support helps sustain these initiatives and ensures our community continues to have a strong voice in City Hall.
