Second Letter on Meta to Hold Public Listening Sessions on El Paso Data Center

This week, I sent a second letter to Meta calling on the company to hold public listening sessions and provide clear answers to El Pasoans about the impacts of its new data center.

With the project moving forward, residents continue to raise concerns about strain on local utilities, potential increases in household costs, and the broader environmental footprint. Our community must not be left in the dark and should have a direct voice in shaping decisions that will impact El Paso’s future.

My Statement on the 2026 Farm Bill

This year's Farm Bill makes life harder by removing funding for fruit and vegetable incentive programs, granting liability exemptions for multi-billion-dollar pesticide corporations, blocking states from pursuing local health and safety protections, and more.

This legislation doesn’t just fail to meet this urgent moment, prioritize our economy, or help the American people - it exposes Republicans' loyalty to pesticide corporations and disdain for animal protections. I voted no.

My Statement on FISA Reauthorization Bill

Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act is a powerful tool for collecting foreign intelligence and helping keep our country safe. But with that power comes a real responsibility to protect the constitutional rights and civil liberties of the American people. 
 
I believe we can protect both our national security and our civil liberties, but doing so requires stronger guardrails than those currently in place - particularly during this era. Until meaningful, enforceable reforms are adopted - especially those that close loopholes and ensure robust protections for Americans’ privacy - I cannot support reauthorization of Section 702.

My Statement on Passage of DHS Funding Bill

House Republicans finally put this long-overdue bill on the floor to fund the Department of Homeland Security without including more money for ICE or Border Patrol without reforms, which have billions available.

Congressional Youth Advisory Council Application

I started the Texas’ 16th Congressional District’s Congressional Youth Advisory Council (CYAC) as a leadership opportunity for high school students with an interest in public service and the legislative process.

The CYAC offers a unique opportunity for student to learn about the federal government, debate policy, and participate in an interactive experience. The CYAC will work with Congresswoman Veronica Escobar’s office to research topics and bills while collaborating alongside their peers. All students living in the district and in grades 10-12 are eligible to apply.
