We already know how important it is that we elect Joe Biden and defeat President Trump.

But winning the Senate is just as important -- and that means re-electing Dick Durbin in Illinois.

John, we're halfway there to meeting Senator Durbin's mid-August goal. Can you rush in a $5 contribution to keep Illinois blue and take back the Senate?

Republican Mark Curran is challenging Senator Durbin in this race because he thinks we need another extreme conservative rubber stamp for the Trump-McConnell agenda in the Senate.

Curran wants to dismantle the Affordable Care Act. He wants to roll back reproductive freedom. He supports the GOP's cruel, anti-immigrant agenda and opposes commonsense gun reform.

Not only is Curran out of step with Illinois, he even had the nerve to attack the legendary civil rights hero Rep. John Lewis in the days following his death. Curran is not fit to serve our state.

There is so much at stake in this election. Democrats are in a strong position in the fight for control of the Senate -- but if we don't win big in Illinois, we can't flip the Senate. And that means at least two more years of Mitch McConnell's disastrous agenda and failed leadership.
