Hi john,
Welcome back to another Abortion AF Friday, full of the abortion news and hot goss you probably have missed! Although it’s a new month, the anti-abortion shit spigots are still turning the hose on us full blast. But if we’re gonna get doused with misogyny, we wouldn’t want to be awash in it with anyone else — so brace yourself, here it comes!
We’re Drinking What Now?
The EPA is the latest government agency to apparently decide actual science and facts don’t matter, and are now recommending state testing of drinking water for… abortion pills and birth control. [[link removed]] Two forms of abortion pills and a few forms of hormonal birth control pills are now on a federal list of potential “contaminants” in the water. Don’t be fooled: this is just one of their scare tactics and completely not based on facts. To quote Sen. Wyden’s letter to the EPA Administrator, “...this is laying the groundwork for sweeping state and federal restrictions on reproductive health care.”
A meme made from stills of the TV show The Sopranos, with superimposed white text adding an interaction between the main character of the series Tony and his wife Carmela. Tony holds a cup and looks annoyed as he says: This water has abortion pills in it. Carmela responds: You like it with abortion pills. Tony clarifies: I said I like SOME abortion pills in it. [[link removed]]
Look, AAF has also been calling them out on this ridic claim FOR YEARS. [[link removed]] Care about the environment? STFU. They just passed a law that could destroy the nation's most pristine water supply with a copper mine. Fracking causes fire to pour out of our faucets. Our Secretary of HHS was swimming in a river of poop with his grandkids, and oh yeah, FLINT, MI IS STILL A THING! But sure — there’s a five-alarm “abortion in the water” fire…
Idaho? No, YOU Da Hoe!
On to something happy! Idaho has officially just gotten enough signatures for a November ballot initiative to decriminalize abortion. [[link removed]] Living under a strict abortion ban since Roe fell, pro-abort baddies Idahoans United for Women and Families mobilized to gather even MORE signatures than required because it turns out most Idahoans don’t actually want the government involved in making their healthcare decisions. IMAGINE THAT.
Idaho has experienced a real healthcare crisis since the Dobbs decision, losing nearly A THIRD of its OB-GYNs due to the harsh penalties that are currently on the books. Now we’re not doctors, mind you, but it seems like threatening physicians with up to FIVE years in prison for performing abortions is not a great provider retention strategy. Nonetheless, we can’t wait to see the “Reproductive Freedom and Privacy Act” pass!

Your Feminist Buzzkills are back and breaking down the completely absurd Congressional hearing against the FACE Act convened by anti-abortion extremists on the House Judiciary Committee! Couldn’t stomach listening to it? WE GOTCHU! Plus, there’s a new male birth control with no side effects, and it may reverse aging, and other cool perks! Take that, ladies!
As Always, The Best Guests!
FBK’s guests are always out there doing the damn thing — like Lupe M. Rodríguez , Executive Director of the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice! Lupe educates us all on the link between immigrant and reproductive justice, and how we can support them both.
