This is wild.

After the Supreme Court cleared the path for a return to Jim Crow-era voter suppression, MAGA Republicans are moving aggressively to eliminate Black and minority representatives up and down the ballot.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry just cancelled a primary election scheduled in two weeks so MAGA lawmakers can redraw the state's maps. 

Early voting and absentee voting was scheduled to start Saturday and thousands of voters have already received their ballots, but they don’t care. They want power at any cost.

Now the most ineffective Speaker of the House in U.S. history, Mike Johnson (R-LA), is calling for other states to do what his home state of Louisiana is doing: cancel elections to rig the maps even more for the GOP.

We absolutely can fight this, and we are working around the clock to make sure voters see MAGA’s corruption, voter suppression, and anti-democratic power grab.

But what we can’t do is fight back alone. MAGA is relying on Democrats throwing our hands up, saying all is lost, and remaining scattered, divided, and scared. 

We aren’t doing that. Not this time. I’ve seen enough in my lifetime to know that folks will only rally to a cause if they think the people behind it have passion, courage, and grit. 

I am a third generation farmer, and the grandson of a sharecropper who toiled in the very fields that my son and I now own. I’m proud to lead the fight against MAGA as they try to drag us back to Jim Crow. We aren’t going back. 

This is the fight of our lives. Will you stand with me and with Democrats in Louisiana who are putting EVERYTHING on the line to fight back and punish MAGA this November?
