I'm honored to be working with you.

LIRS
Dear LIRS Supporter,

Hello — I'm Andrew G. Steele, and I'm the new Director of Development for LIRS. Please allow me a moment to tell you why I'm so honored to be working alongside you, helping the world's most vulnerable.

Growing up in the Lutheran faith instilled a passion in me for doing good work by being a servant leader. And like many of you, my faith compels me to frequently ask myself, “Did I do enough?” That question motivates me to work hard to try to make a positive impact every day.

Right now, we're living in a pivotal time in history — kids being held in immigration detention, refugees and asylum seekers being turned away, a raging global pandemic — but this time calls for us to unite, dig deep and become our best selves, and do more than we thought possible.

Welcoming the stranger and helping the vulnerable is not just a job to me — it's holy work — and it's something that we can do together that makes a life-changing difference — regardless of your faith or background.

Being a part of LIRS means that you belong to a community that stands for the just treatment of people fleeing violence and persecution. Being a part of LIRS means that you embrace those seeking refuge — even in the face of increasing hostility against newcomers.

Being a part of LIRS is something I'm deeply proud of, and I hope you are, too.

In a time when we confront new and unexpected challenges almost daily, I have faith that together, we can better the world with love, compassion, and right action.

God's Work, Our Hands,

Andrew G. Steele
Vice President for Development
