John, today is the 85th anniversary of the Social Security Act being signed into law.

For 85 years, we've made a promise to Americans: if you work hard, you'll be able to retire with dignity and the necessary financial support.

Unfortunately, now, more than ever before, Social Security is under attack. President Trump announced an executive order last week that would defund both Social Security and Medicare by postponing payroll taxes for the year. Even a temporary cut to payroll taxes undermines these critical programs, but Trump plans to do far worse if re-elected. In an interview on Saturday, Trump said he would permanently cut payroll taxes, defunding Social Security and throwing the economic stability of America's seniors and families into jeopardy.

Social Security has lifted millions of seniors out of poverty and provides economic stability to all Americans via disability and survivor benefits. As a member of Congress, Cameron will stand up to any attempt to defund or undermine Social Security.
