People like me aren’t “supposed” to make it to Congress.

I don’t come from generational wealth. My mom was a hairdresser, and my dad worked in construction, and I was the first in my family to graduate high school.

No, Washington wasn’t built with people like me in mind. And it shows.

For every person like me in Congress — someone who actually grew up in a working-class family — there’s ten more who have never experienced real struggle in their lives.

But I haven’t forgotten growing up in a working-class family that relied on SNAP benefits.

I haven’t forgotten when Medicaid saved my mom’s life.

I haven’t forgotten the public school teachers who pushed me to succeed and the communities that invested in people like me.

I will always remember where I came from, and the people and programs who helped me beat the odds. Now, I’m fighting in Congress to make sure Washington never forgets them either.

But with MAGA Republicans in charge right now, that’s no small task. That’s why I need your help: Will you chip in $5, $25, anything you can before our April fundraising deadline at midnight tonight?
