I’ve spent a lot of time over this past week talking about fundraising deadlines and dollar goals.

Today, I want to talk about why any of it matters.

I’ve served this country. I’ve seen what it looks like when institutions hold. I’ve also seen what happens when they don’t. Democracy isn’t a right, it’s a privilege.

It requires people who are willing to fight for it, defend it, and show up for it — even when it’s hard, even when it’s inconvenient, even when the other side has more money.

That’s what this race is about.

Julie Fedorchak is the establishment’s candidate. She’ll go to Washington backed by the same interests that have been calling the shots for years. And when it matters most, she’ll answer to them, not to you.

I won’t play by those rules. When someone needs to stand up and defend the basic principles that hold this country together, regardless of party, you can count on me.

I say this not because I’m a perfect candidate (you can ask my wife!). But because I don’t owe anyone anything except the people of North Dakota.

Our April 30 deadline is just a few hours away and we are so close to hitting our $25,000 goal. I know that number can sound abstract. But here’s what it means in practice: it means we can keep running ads, knocking doors, and putting our message in front of voters who need to hear it. It means this campaign stays viable. It means North Dakota has a real choice in November.
