Pete Hegseth appeared in a House Armed Services Committee hearing yesterday, and we exchanged words.

As the proud representative of the largest military community in the country, I had *a lot* of questions for our Defense Secretary.
My office’s phones have been ringing off the hook, with call after call from military families who are concerned about the President’s mental fitness to serve as our Commander-in-Chief. So I asked Hegseth if he thought Trump was mentally stable enough to send our troops into harm’s way.
Instead of answering, he immediately pivoted to talking about former President Joe Biden. I reminded him that Biden isn’t the President (since he seemed to forget!), at which point he said he “wouldn’t even engage” with me in a conversation about our Commander-in-Chief.
And then — of course — Hegseth went on to speak over me, again and again and again.
Color me shocked that a guy who elevates the idea that women shouldn’t have the right to vote felt fine to bulldoze a woman Member of Congress questioning him in an official hearing…
Bottom line: Pete Hegseth couldn’t defend Trump’s mental fitness because he’s NOT fit to lead this country or to lead our service members into war.
We cannot let this chaotic and dangerous administration continue unchecked. Flipping the House in November is a matter of moral clarity, a matter of national security, and a matter of democratic stability.
