NPR: Trump Admits He Opposes Funding For Postal Service To Block More Voting By Mail
L.A. Times: Trump admits to blocking Postal Service funding to undercut voting by mail
CNN: Trump says he opposes funding USPS because of mail-in voting
Friend -- we know that President Trump is afraid that if more people can vote, he will lose this election. That is why he has tried over and over to discredit mail-in voting as fraudulent, even though he himself voted by mail.
Talking about the U.S. Postal Service, Trump said. "Now they need that money in order to make the Post Office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots...But if they don't get those two items that means you can't have universal mail-in voting..."
In other words, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, President Trump is refusing to support critical funding for the USPS because he wants to make it harder for Americans to vote.
This is a real threat to our democracy, and we cannot let it stand. Add your name to tell President Trump to stop holding our democracy hostage and to fully fund the USPS!

The Spokesman-Review had a report yesterday about how the Senate is working to secure our election. In a letter to the Postmaster General, I joined my colleagues in taking a hard stance: We need our postal system to be above political interference. This includes the postal service funding, as well as the treatment of election mail as first class, the postage rate on mail, and more.
Making it harder for millions of Americans to vote is bad enough. But undermining our post office won't just hurt voting -- it could also delay deliveries of medication, Social Security checks, veterans' benefits, essential supplies, and so many other things that Americans rely on the post office for every day. We can't let that happen.
I am working hard in the Senate to protect our post office and our mail-in ballots. Will you stand with me? Sign my petition now!
Thank you,
Maria Cantwell
