Hi Friend,

Millions of children die or suffer from conditions we already know how to prevent, often for less than a dollar a year. The gap between what's possible and what's actually happening has driven my career, and it's what brought me to Evidence Action.

My name is Danielle Bayer, and I'm excited to introduce myself to you as Evidence Action's newly appointed CEO.

I've spent nearly two decades in global development asking one question: how do we make sure resources committed to doing good actually do the most good possible? I started my career in humanitarian work and watched as well-intentioned philanthropy failed to deliver real outcomes. That experience shaped everything that followed.

Evidence Action identifies the health interventions where the evidence is strongest and the gap between what's possible and what's actually happening is widest — and then we close that gap, at scale, through government partnerships built to last.

That means:
🪱Deworming hundreds of millions of children per year, improving nutrition, school attendance, and lifetime earnings → ([link removed])
💊Treating tens of millions of children and adolescents for anemia, so they regain strength and the capacity to learn → ([link removed])
💧Delivering safe drinking water to millions of people, saving thousands of children's lives → ([link removed])
🫄Treating syphilis during pregnancy — which quietly causes over 200,000 stillbirths and neonatal deaths a year → ([link removed])

I'm deeply grateful to Kanika Bahl, who spent nine years building an organization with the rigor, reach, and trust to operate at this scale ([link removed]) . Under her leadership, Evidence Action reached more than 530 million people across 11 countries. The foundation she leaves is extraordinary and comes at exactly the moment when proven, cost-effective solutions need to be reaching far more people than they currently do. Kanika will continue as a senior advisor and board member, and I'm glad her deep knowledge of this organization will remain close.

My first months will be grounded in listening: visiting programs in East Africa, meeting team members across our operations, and hearing from partners and supporters like you about where you see the greatest opportunities.

Our greatest impact is still ahead of us. We're launching more new programs this year than at any point in our history. Behind each one is our Accelerator ([link removed]) , the rigorous pipeline we use to identify promising interventions, test them, and prepare them for scale. That pipeline is the strongest it's ever been — and I expect it to produce new best bets for global health in the next few years, with a small number reaching tens or hundreds of millions of people.

Thank you for supporting this work. Your partnership is what makes it possible to deliver these interventions to the people who need them most.
