Hi John,

Over the last decade, Ken Paxton, and previously Greg Abbott, pushed the fundamental work of the Texas Attorney General’s Office to the sidelines.

They have used the office instead as a political tool, taking away resources from the basic functions of upholding the rule of law, protecting consumers, investigating and prosecuting public sector and private sector corruption, and preserving individual freedoms.

No longer. This race is an opportunity to restore the Attorney General’s office to what it was meant to be.

The framers of the Texas Constitution didn’t trust concentrated power anywhere — not in the governor’s office, not in the Legislature, not in big corporations. That’s why they made the Attorney General an independently elected executive office, vested with the power to act as a check against corruption and abuse wherever it might occur.

Ken Paxton has surrendered that independence to the MAGA movement.

We have four weeks left to ensure that we can restore public trust in this office.

If you’re ready for an Attorney General who will run the office independently, I’m asking you to chip in $5, or anything you can today: [[link removed]]
