Fellow Conservative,
Less training, less oversight, and fewer first responders. That is the Austin City Council’s vision for “reimagined public safety.”
Â
They called our concerns "fear-mongering" to deflect from their real intentions. But they actually did it, and it’s worse than we imagined.Â
Â
Members of the Austin City Council JUST UNANIMOUSLY PASSED nearly $150 million in CUTS from the Austin Police Department. Here’s what they’re targeting:
- Training for new cadets in the police force.
- The APD Forensics Unit.
- 911/Dispatch.
- The Special Investigations Unit created to investigate police misconduct.Â
Who will take on these responsibilities you might ask? Well, the Austin City Council doesn’t know that quite yet, but wants you to trust them to figure it out.
