* Apple’s Employee Uniforms Tied to Forced Labor in Xinjiang: On Monday, CfA and TTP released a report revealing that Apple’s employee uniforms are sourced from a company, Esquel Group, that was sanctioned in July 2020 by the U.S. government for its involvement in forced labor and other human rights abuses in China’s Xinjiang region. * Facebook’s Crackdown on the Boogaloo Movement Leaves Major Holes: On Wednesday, CfA and TTP released a report detailing Facebook’s continued failure to stop members of the “boogaloo” movement from organizing on the platform. Despite Facebook's ban on what it called the "violent" boogaloo network and other actions announced by Facebook, TTP found that the movement is still growing on the platform. * CfA Releases Hundreds of Documents Related to Real Alternatives’ Maladministration of Pennsylvania State Program: On Thursday, CfA released 289 internal documents obtained through records requests that illustrate a pattern of public program maladministration by the anti-abortion group Real Alternatives. * Federal Court Reverses Block on Arkansas Abortion Law, Citing John Roberts: “The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Friday to lift a block on four restrictive abortion laws passed in Arkansas. Included within the laws is a limit on a procedure common in second-trimester abortions and a provision that allows a person to litigate a doctor to stop their partner’s abortion.” (Ms. Magazine ([link removed]) , August 10)
* Inspector general asked to review Census Bureau’s decision to end count early: "An inspector general has been asked to investigate whether President Trump or political appointees pressured the Census Bureau in its decision to wrap up door-knocking and other field activities at the end of September, a month sooner than planned."
