Hi John,
Ever heard of the "coattail effect"?
It's the idea that a presidential nominee can be so popular that it causes down-ballot candidates to perform better in their races.
We here at Run for Something built our theory of change around the opposite -- a "reverse coattails effect." There are thousands of candidates seeking office down-ballot this year, and we believe that the stronger their campaigns perform, the better chance our presidential nominee (and House, Senate, and governor candidates) have to win critical districts in battleground states.
Just think of local candidates as super-charged field organizers with a ton of skin in the game: They're doing critical outreach to voters who the presidential campaign might not talk to, and because they're plugged in locally, they can build strong lasting relationships that will get folks out to the polls. Win or lose, that's more Democratic votes for the entire party.
That's why we're launching an all-new virtual event series to support candidates in the tightest down-ballot elections in the nation.
Starting August 25th, we're launching Unapologetically Progressive: a one of a kind five-part series that highlights young diverse candidates running for local office in battleground states.
We want to connect you with the people who are essential to progressive wins down and up the Democratic ticket this year.
There are 3 ways to join:
