2. Help Ensure Funding to Address Substance Use and Addiction Continues in 2027

While overdose deaths have decreased in recent years, substance use, addiction, and overdose still impact tens of millions of Americans.

Now is the time to double down on effective efforts to address addiction and overdose, not pull back. In order to continue progress and prevent a backslide, continued federal funding is needed for the agencies and programs that provide effective prevention and treatment services.

 

The administration released its budget proposal for FY 2027, and Congress is beginning to work on its budget bills. The administration’s budget request proposes funding reductions and reorganizations to many of the health agencies and programs that are integral to efforts to address substance use. However, Congress rejected similar cuts proposed by the administration last year and may do so again this year.

 

Send a letter to your members of Congress urging them to pass a budget for FY 2027 that again provides needed funding to support the federal response to substance use and addiction.
