An Important Milestone in Women’s History

Continue to save places that matter

Dear Friend,

Fearless suffragists...iconic artists and musicians...dedicated advocates… pioneering entrepreneurs—women have played influential roles in every chapter of America’s history.

This month marks the centennial of the 19th Amendment, and to recognize this important milestone, we are saluting America’s diverse, boundary-breaking women by renewing our commitment to preserve the places where they raised their voices, stood their ground in the face of overwhelming odds, and summoned the courage to change the world.

We believe that every place has a woman’s story to tell, but far too many of them have been overlooked or deliberately obscured. As part of our observance of this historic anniversary, we invited friends and supporters to help us bring to light the hidden and under-recognized places where women of all ages, backgrounds, beliefs, and identities have made history. The responses thus far—over 800—have been amazing. Take a peek here and be inspired!

Today, as the National Trust’s staff leading our Where Women Made History campaign, I’d love to hear your thoughts about what this work means to you.

Your feedback will provide valuable insight as we take action to preserve places where history happened. We’ll share the results of our survey in a few weeks, so take a moment now to make sure that your thoughts are included.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. Together, we can inspire a new generation of women leaders as they write their own American stories and lead us all forward toward a stronger future.

Campaign Manager, Where Women Made History

P.S. We’ll compile the results of this survey soon. So don’t delay—share your thoughts about preserving women’s history now and keep an eye out for the results!
