Friends, this is dark.
Donald Trump’s Supreme Court strikes devastating blow after devastating blow to our rights and values. Today, it was with a decision that gutted the remaining protections of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 — a law that has been reauthorized multiple times in Congress on a bipartisan basis.

The VRA has been a cornerstone of our Civil Rights movement — born, as Justice Elena Kagan said in her dissent, “of the literal blood of Union soldiers and civil rights marchers.” To remove its protections is to blatantly open the door for racial discrimination, setting back our country’s ongoing struggle to secure truly equal rights for all.
There’s not an easy answer here. The impacts of SCOTUS decisions can reverberate for generations, and we don’t yet know the full damage of this one. But I can tell you one thing:
Our fight to flip the House and reclaim a Democratic majority so we can put a check on Trump’s power has never been more important.
Justice Kagan also said this of the VRA: “It has been repeatedly, and overwhelmingly, reauthorized by the people’s representatives in Congress. Only they have the right to say it is no longer needed — not the Members of this Court.”
We must continue the fight to end voter suppression and protect voting rights in Congress, and we can only do that with a Democratic majority. Will you contribute any amount towards this work today? [[link removed]]
