My name is Dadrius Lanus, I am the Executive Director of the Louisiana Democratic Party. Our MAGA-controlled Louisiana state legislature has been waiting for this moment and they have racist new maps that are ready to be introduced as soon as tomorrow.
Their new maps will attempt to erase our two black majority districts to unseat incumbents Congressman Cleo Fields (D-LA) and Congressman Troy Carter (D-LA), as well as flip dozens of state house districts. It will establish permanent MAGA control of Louisiana.
These new maps will pass. But there is cause for hope yet, the maps will not take effect until 2028, this means we have one single opportunity to stop it: our upcoming state legislative elections.
Democrats must reclaim the Louisiana legislature in this election in order to cancel these maps. Doing this will require flipping 9 State Senate seats and 21 State House seats, an immensely difficult but by no means an impossible feat.
If hardy Cajuns could win the battle of New Orleans we can win this too.
