John,
Now more than ever, people in our region and across the country are relying on the postal service to remain connected to the things they need. Whether its prescriptions, supplies and groceries, or just staying connected with friends and loved one, the postal service has been a constant connection through the pandemic.
And, as we prepare for the fall election, the postal service will play a critical role in our democracy by delivering the ballots that many voters, including those in Connecticut, will cast in November’s election.
That is, unless President Trump gets his way.
Just this week, President Trump said publicly that he was holding back funding from the U.S. Postal Service in order to discourage the use of voting by mail. This comes after his new hand-picked postmaster general is taking steps that will slow down the mail, including absentee ballots for the fall election.
I’m fighting against these efforts and working to make sure that the postal service has the support it needs to do its job. Will you add your your name today to join me?
This clearly political move will not only suppress voting in November but it will lead to massive mail delays, harming small businesses and immunocompromised people who depend on the postal service during the pandemic. That is why I need your help now to send a message to the president and congressional Republicans that this attack on the U.S. Postal Service will not stand.
Will you stand with me and our postal service in telling Donald Trump to back off?
I won’t let the President take down the postal service for political reasons and I hope you will stand by me as I fight.
Thank you for your continued support.
