I wish I could say I was surprised,
John, but the latest attacks
against me from the White House are dangerous and yet utterly predictable.

This week, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt accused me of contributing to
the rise of political violence.

Her reasoning? Because I have asserted — all too accurately — that when
the president attacks the free press, goes after our universities,
weaponizes our justice department, and uses his office to enrich himself
and his rich friends, he is using a dictator’s playbook.

And he is.

But let me be clear: Political violence has no place in our nation, and
the attempted attack during the White House Correspondents Dinner is a
reminder of how urgently we must act.

But the problem — first and foremost — is coming from inside the White
House.

The Trump administration is shamelessly trying to blame Democrats for the
rise in political violence in this country.

This is the same administration that includes:

* Kash Patel, who suggested putting my head on a catapult and shared an
AI video of me being buzzsawed.
* Elon Musk, who called me a criminal and a traitor — to an audience of
millions.
* Tulsi Gabbard, who recently accused me of being a “deep state actor”
for my work on Donald Trump’s first impeachment.
* Donald Trump, who has repeatedly called for my arrest and suggested
that veterans serving in Congress should be executed for treason.

This administration is using the White House briefing room to try to
intimidate those of us who hold them accountable.

But I am not going anywhere, and I know you aren't either.

The only way to restore sanity to our government is to elect Democratic
majorities that will hold this White House accountable. We need to show
them that their tactics of intimidation and blame will not work.
