Hi John -

I wanted to make sure you saw Scott's email below about the billboards we want to put up in Kentucky to get Mitch's attention on gun reform.

You can see the billboard below - please pitch in what you can below and help us get the first billboard up in time for Congress' return from recess!

subject: Tell Mitch we just want a vote

Hey John -

Help us put up these billboards in Kentucky to pressure Mitch McConnell to at least just give us a vote on legislation passed by the House to reduce gun violence. The Senate will return from their summer recess very soon and they need to hear from us now!

It is critical that we keep up the pressure on McConnell to address this public health epidemic without further delay. Overwhelming majorities of Americans support common sense measures to reduce gun deaths.

Yet NRA puppet Mitch McConnell is blocking any legislation from even coming to the floor.

Gun violence is one of the leading causes of preventable death in our country, resulting in more than 33,000 deaths each year, and we must take a comprehensive public health approach to addressing this ongoing crisis. For too long we as a nation have failed to take on this devastating problem in our communities and we cannot afford to wait any longer.

How many more mass shootings do we need to see before we act? How many more people need to die?

Mitch McConnell will not even allow a vote on any of the common sense gun reform legislation passed by the House this year.

Write to your senators and representatives here to back measures to reduce gun violence in the United States including, but not limited to:

- Strengthening Background Checks: Requiring and strengthening criminal background checks for all firearm purchases, including all firearms sold at gun shows and on the Internet. Please support HR 8 and HR 1112, which passed the House and are now stalled by Mitch McConnell and the GOP in the U.S. Senate.

- Banning Assault Weapons: Reinstating the federal ban on automatic and semi-automatic assault weapons and large-capacity ammunition magazines

- Fighting Terrorism: Preventing known or suspected terrorists from purchasing a gun

- Fighting Domestic Abuse: Requiring all those convicted of domestic abuse to turn in their firearms

- Enabling More Reporting: Providing adequate and unrestricted funding for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other scientific agencies to research the causes of gun violence and develop prevention strategies. This includes increasing the funding for the National Violent Death Reporting System.

Thanks for all you do,

Scott
