Team, winning the White House won’t be enough.
And winning the Senate won’t be enough.
The problems our country faces are big, and pervasive, and systemic. If we want to match big problems with big solutions, we can’t just elect leaders at the federal level — we need to invest in candidates from the top to the bottom of the ticket.
That’s why, today, I’m endorsing a new slate of local candidates who will join me in the fight to build a people first future. And I’m asking you to please make a gift so we can elect a slate of progressive leaders in communities across this country.
Christina Blackcloud is running for State Representative in Iowa’s 72nd District. I’ve seen Christina’s passion and dedication to Iowa’s rural communities; she’s a lifelong champion for the underserved and underrepresented.
Daniel Corona is running for Mayor of West Wendover, Nevada. The youngest mayor in the state, Daniel is a relentless advocate for rural Nevada. He has worked to diversify the local economy by creating jobs in budding industries like cannabis.
Dave Mandelkern is running for the Board of Trustees in the San Mateo, California, County Community College District. Dave knows that accessible, high-quality education is a critical component of the American dream. I know that he will continue to be a leader that his community can trust to fight for educational opportunity.
Joél-Léhi Organista is running for School Board in Precinct 1 of Salt Lake City, Utah. Joél-Léhi has spent more than a decade fighting for social justice and for equitable education. If he wins, I know that he’ll help every student in Salt Lake City realize their potential.
Coby Owens is running for City Council in District 1 of Wilmington, Delaware. Having grown up in the heart of Wilmington's first district, Coby Owens understands the challenges his community faces. I’ve seen that he has both the vision and dedication to help more families succeed.
Wendy Stolyarov is running for City Council in Ward 1 of Sparks, Nevada. Wendy is putting the needs of working families and vulnerable people first. She knows that housing is a human right and that a good job with decent wages is critical to the prosperity of Nevada's families.
Steph Dominguez Walton is running for City Council in District 1 of Oakland, California. Stephanie is a progressive leader who will work tirelessly to tackle issues such as homelessness, income inequality, and a struggling public education system.
Team, these candidates might not be running in your community. But they’re fighting for progressive change and a people first agenda that we want all our communities to commit to. You can help be a part of that change.
Thank you,
Julián Castro
