Too many Americans are experiencing financial hardship right now, so if you cannot afford to give today -- that's okay. I'm grateful knowing you opened this email and are a part of our team. Thank you for your support.

Dear John,

On Saturday, the Trump administration made it abundantly clear: they plan to attack and dismantle Social Security.

The idea of tearing down this critical program – one of America’s most important and successful endeavors – is far from new. Republicans have made numerous attempts at cutting Social Security.

They’ve tried to privatize it. They’ve tried to gut it through commissions. And now, they are trying to sabotage Social Security under the guise of a payroll tax “holiday”. But make no mistake, this “holiday” is intended to be permanent and it will crush the program that our seniors depend on.

In the face of each attempted cut so far, my Democratic colleagues and I have stood strong. More than that, we have pushed to strengthen Social Security. With the support of 200+ House Democrats, I introduced a bill which would INCREASE benefits and ENSURE sustainability for future generations. I’ve also traveled across the country to help my House colleagues bring awareness to this important issue.

But Republicans have ignored the urgent need to bolster Social Security and have shown that they will continue their attempts in dismantling it. Without a major Democratic victory in November, the administration will look to finally accomplish its goal of eliminating Social Security – starting with a permanent payroll tax cut.

Can you donate $3 now, so that I can return next year to a Democratic Congress that will protect and strengthen Social Security?

A threat against Social Security is a threat against the well-being of the millions of seniors and Americans with disabilities it assists – as well as the well-being of future generations of Social Security recipients. It is, really, a threat against all of us.

I know it is a difficult time for many Americans to give to our campaign. But it is also a critical time to elect leaders with proven records of protecting the program that has supported Americans for generations.

If you can, please donate $3, and stand up for Social Security, and against poverty and economic inequality.

Regardless of whether you are able to give, I’m grateful knowing you opened this email and are part of our team.

My sincerest thanks,
