With just 81 days left until the election, it’s more important than ever for our grassroots campaign to release strong fundraising numbers to send a message that we have what it takes to defend this seat. But first, let me remind you what we’re fighting for.

President Trump just took executive action to suspend payroll taxes that are essential to funding Social Security and Medicare. This does absolutely nothing for the record number of Americans who are unemployed right now, and it’s a slap in the face to working families who now have to worry about repaying the taxes next year.

Even worse, Trump says his goal is to make permanent cuts to the payroll tax if he’s re-elected -- which would completely devastate Social Security and Medicare and subject our seniors to poverty and no healthcare.

My right-wing extremist opponent Jeanne Ives has called Social Security a “Ponzi scheme” and a “scam” -- if she makes it to Congress, she’d be a rubber stamp to help Trump destroy these life-saving programs that millions rely on.
