Friend,

“A government is just only when the whole people share equally in its protection
and advantages.”

Those are the words of Elizabeth Cady Stanton, an organizer of the first
convention for women’s rights and suffragette -- this year celebrates 172 years
since that first women’s rights convention in Seneca Falls and 100 years since
the ratification of the 19th Amendment, and if she could see that the Senate is
coming closer and closer to representing that equity she fought for in women’s
representation, I think she’d be proud.

Two senators integral to that equity are Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Tina Smith,
who have tirelessly fought for women’s rights and to elect more women to the
Senate and up and down the ballot.

Both are up for reelection this year, and both need our help: We have a
mid-month goal of $5,000 to support them by tonight’s midnight deadline. Will you donate $5 or more to reelect Jeanne Shaheen and Tina Smith to the Senate? I’d love to tell you more about my incredible colleagues, starting with Jeanne
Shaheen:

Jeanne is the first woman in American history to be elected governor and U.S.
Senator -- a pretty incredible legacy for the daughter of a shoe factory manager
and a church secretary. As governor of New Hampshire, she extended affordable
health insurance coverage to tens of thousands of children, expanded public
kindergarten, and balanced budgets without a sales or income tax. Now in the
U.S. Senate, Jeanne is a tireless voice for New Hampshire, and is a leading
voice on national security, women’s rights, and veterans.

Tina Smith moved to Minnesota in 1984, and rooted her family, her business, and
her life in the state before advocating for Minnesotans in the U.S. Senate.
She’s worked across the aisle to expand resources for career and technical
education, fund resources for states and tribes to address the opioid epidemic,
and the bipartisan Farm Bill to support farmers and ranchers across the state.
But she’ll be the first to say she’s just getting started -- we need leaders
like Tina Smith now more than ever.

When suffragettes fought for equal access to the ballot box, I feel sure that
they were hoping for leaders like Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Tina Smith. Let’s
keep them in the Senate: Donate $5 or more to help us raise $5,000 toward the reelections of Jeanne Shaheen in New Hampshire and Tina Smith in Minnesota before tonight’s midnight deadline. [link removed]
