Can you imagine a world where there is no “I” — and only “we”?
No individuality. No independent thought. Just the collective.
In Ayn Rand’s dystopian novella Anthem, she depicts a society that enforces absolute collectivism. The word “I” has been erased from human language, and people don’t even have personal names, only assigned numbers, assigned jobs, assigned mating partners. Children are raised not by families, but in collective barracks. And the one most gifted individual to survive this “education”? He is relegated to sweeping the streets.
It may sound extreme, but the stark horror of a civilization destroyed by envy remains as relevant and arresting today as it did nearly nine decades ago.
Today, young people are increasingly taught that the group matters more than the individual, that success must be punished, and that independent thinking is dangerous or even immoral.
It makes me shudder to even think about where this train of thought (or lack thereof) leads.
The Atlas Society is helping the next generation rediscover the word “I” for themselves. We are working every day to ensure they embrace individualism, reason, achievement, benevolence, and ethical self-interest – the ideas that made freedom, progress, and human flourishing possible in the first place.
One way we are bringing these ideas to life for the rising generation is through our graphic novel adaptation of Ayn Rand’s works. We recruited the popular Marvel comics illustrator to bring Anthem to life – then we distribute tens of thousands of copies annually at Comic Cons coast to coast.
Will you help us ensure that we never lose the word “I” by donating today?
The Atlas Society has made it our mission to bring Ayn Rand’s ideas to life for young people before poisonous collectivist ideology takes irreversible hold.
We want young people to learn, much like Equality 7-2521 does in ANTHEM, that one’s sense of self is sacred and essential to all human progress.
And we do it by transforming Ayn Rand’s work into a variety of vehicles that appeal the most to them.
Through our graphic novels, pocket guides, animated videos, digital content, and educational programs and conferences, we are reaching millions of young minds who are searching for something different — something true.
Your support fuels the creation of content and experiences that challenge the rising tide of collectivism and inspire young people to think, question, and stand on their own.

P.S. The battle between individualism and collectivism is not just philosophical — it’s generational.
Each new generation faces the same challenge: daring to be individuals in a society that increasingly demands they sacrifice their egos for the sake of the collective.
The Atlas Society is making sure that this generation has access to ideas like:
The moral right to live for your own sake
The power of reason and independent thought
The importance of individual rights and personal responsibility
The dangers of conformity
The role of Reason as their sole means of acquiring knowledge
Your support helps ensure that these ideas aren’t forgotten and inspires the next generation to choose freedom.
The future belongs to those who understand the value of the individual.
You can make sure they do by donating any amount today.
