Fossil fuels are killing us. 

This week, a gas explosion wrecked multiple homes in Baltimore and killed at least two people. Last week, supercharged storm Isaias killed at least five. 

It’s saddening. It’s angering. And it reminds us why we’re in this fight: to rebuild our society around truly clean energy sources and bring about the end of fossil fuels. It won’t be easy, but I know that we can do it. Why? Because we have a passionate and dedicated team at CCAN. Let me show you what I mean. Please watch this video!

What do the next six months look like for us? 

• On Capitol Hill, we will hold Big Oil and Gas responsible for their leading role in the climate crisis. We are prepared to utilize our 70,000 supporters surrounding our nation’s capital to call for a climate stimulus when the time is right. 
• In Maryland, we will be advocating for climate stimulus legislation. As we look to recover our economy, we cannot go back to business as usual. Climate action must be at the core of our economic recovery.
• In Virginia, we will be organizing for a moratorium on all new fossil fuel projects to build an equitable clean energy future for communities and workers.

The Chesapeake region is home to over 15 million people surrounding our nation's capital. We are working with you and for you everyday so that you, your family, and future generations have a future that is fossil fuel free and where every hurricane season will not be the “busiest on record.”
