Dear John,

Meet Wes.

He’s our lead organizer in the greater Austin area, helping our volunteers
meet, register and stay in touch with voters at UT Austin, Austin
Community College and traveling as far as San Antonio and San Marcos to
help at colleges there.

Wes is tireless, committed and innovative, always trying new ways to
improve our program and the number of voters we turn out. He’s also a
student at UT Austin, giving him a direct connection to the young Texans
who represent the margin of victory in close elections.

That’s critical — because when we take the time to personally connect with
a student, get them on the voting rolls and help them through any
questions or concerns they have about voting (and give them a nudge at
election time) they are more than twice as likely to vote as their peers.

Like all of our organizers, we pay Wes a living wage, provide healthcare
insurance and cover his travel expenses as he moves across Central Texas
to reach these important voters.
