Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) President Morton A. Klein, Chair Mark Levenson, Esq., and Executive Vice President John Rosen released the following statement with great sorrow:
The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) mourns the passing of
Dr. Daniel Mandel, its brilliant director of the ZOA Center for Mideast Policy. He leaves behind his devoted wife Grace, and a son and daughter.
Daniel was a brilliant historian, writer, researcher, activist, orator, and Mideast analyst, who received his PhD in Mideast history from Australia’s University of Melbourne. Daniel was a key and integral part of fulfilling ZOA’s sacred mission to fight for Israel and the Jewish people. Above all, he was a devoted and loving husband, father, and son.
Daniel was unique in his extraordinary and deeply insightful understanding of the truth of the Arab/Islamic war against Israel and the West. And he acted on his substantial knowledge and wisdom with a fervency and commitment and actions few people ever achieve. Daniel was a warrior for his people, the Jewish people, and for the Jewish State of Israel that he loved second only to his family. He was a wonderful and elegant writer, so ably utilized in the cause of Eretz Yisroel.
Dr. Daniel Mandel has left a huge gap at ZOA that can really never be filled.
Daniel was the paragon of a gentleman, who never raised his voice and treated the most difficult and pressure-filled trying situations with aplomb and dignity. He treated everyone with respect and kindness. He was a pleasure to work with.
May his wife and children be comforted among the mourners of Daniel’s beloved Zion and Jerusalem. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten and always in our hearts.
