Right now, the stakes of everything feel so high. I remember in 2016, working on Hillary Clinton’s campaign, some people said our fears about a Donald Trump presidency were unfounded. That we were “overreacting.”
A decade later, we watch videos of innocent children being detained, families being ripped apart, and Americans being murdered by masked ICE and Border Patrol agents in our communities.

We read story after story about women who are needlessly dying because of Trump’s abortion bans.

We see states trying to criminalize people seeking health care — even suggesting the *death penalty* should be used as punishment for having an abortion.

We walk by military troops deployed in our cities, patrolling our streets.

All of that barely scratches the surface of this administration’s corruption and cruelty — and we’re only a year in.
We all know that we have to keep taking action to defend our democracy, but it’s daunting.
So here’s my promise to you: I will do every single thing in my power to fight for you and your rights. I will use every legislative tool, partner with our allies in the judicial system and out in the community, and push hard to protect our values and our freedoms.
But I’ll also tell you this — we’ll be a lot more successful in that work if we can claw back the GOP trifecta in Washington, and this November we have our chance.
My team and I are mapping out our plans for the midterms: winning re-election in CA-51, supporting my House colleagues in tough races, and boosting strong Democratic challengers in key battleground districts.
