Team,

Eighty-five years ago today, President Roosevelt made a promise to Americans: if you work hard and pay for your share, we'll have your back when you retire. He made this promise by signing the Social Security Act into law.

To this day, many Americans are able to benefit from Social Security when they need it most. Social Security is an essential -- and even a lifesaving -- system.

But President Trump is threatening Social Security, and his actions could be detrimental to the 65 million Americans who rely on it.

On the eighty-fifth anniversary of the Social Security Act being signed into law, it's more important than ever to protect this program. Will you sign my petition to demand President Trump end his attacks on Social Security?

I will always fight to protect Social Security. In Congress, I've worked hard to improve services and cut costs. That's why, at the beginning of this year, I helped introduce a landmark social security proposal, the Social Security 2100 Act. This legislation would strengthen Social Security and make it financially sound for the 21st century.

Social Security works. Right now, we need to protect Social Security and ensure it can last future generations. While President Trump and Republicans threaten to cut and privatize the program, I promise to honor our commitments to our seniors by strengthening it.

Will you join me in fighting to protect Social Security today? Honor its eighty-fifth anniversary and sign your name next to mine.
