Hi, Sister District DC/VA Volunteers!
The news is a lot right now--we're all thinking about mail-in ballots, the post office, and November's election. Here at Sister District DC/VA, we are keeping busy, because there is always something to do to help Democrats get elected!
That being said, we hope you'll grab a cup of coffee and join us to phone bank this Saturday, August 15th, for Deb Ciamacca, one of our incredible PA House of Representatives candidates. Supporting women like Deb, who are committed to supporting women's rights, is an empowering way to celebrate this historic anniversary of the passage of the 19th amendment while making an impact on the upcoming elections. We even have a special guest!
All volunteers new to phone banking will be trained by one of our voter engagement team members - so no worries if this is something completely new to you, we are here to help! You may join or leave the event at any time. A tentative agenda is as follows:
10:00 - Introduction to Sister District and Today's Event
10:10 - Phone Banking for Deb and Training for New Phone Bankers
11:00 - The Women's Suffrage March on Washington Video and Discussion Led by Michelle Mehrtens
11:20 - Phone Banking Continued
11:50 - Final Discussion and Thank Yous
Michelle Mehrtens is a writer and filmmaker from Providence, RI. Her video, “The historic women’s suffrage march on Washington” partially dives into intersectionality in politics—a topic she is looking forward to discussing with the group on Saturday.
Because of Covid-19, we aren't able to canvass this year, so phone banking is crucial to reach voters!. Every call makes a difference!
We hope to see you there!
