John,
Last week, When We All Vote launched Pass the Mic [[link removed]], the largest effort to listen to and amplify the voices of young people across the country. We understand that Gen Z needs more — and deserves more. So we built something different: shaped by real voices and designed to move young people to action. And it starts the way all good things do — with listening.
We kicked things off with a national research survey of more than 5,500 young people ages 18–29 years old, conducted with our partners at CIRCLE [[link removed]]. What we found? Gen Z isn’t apathetic, they’re frustrated with the status quo. They’re clear about their needs, their concerns, and their critiques of our democracy. Here’s what they told us:
🎤 Gen Z is engaged and passionate across the political spectrum. But while they are overwhelmingly ready to take action, many still question the power of their voices.
🎤 Economic anxiety drives Gen Z’s top issues, with the economy, housing, and healthcare dominating across demographics and political beliefs.
🎤 Even when they feel informed on the issues, information gaps prevent Gen Z from connecting what they care about to what is on the ballot.

So what’s next? Over the next five years, we will engage more than one million young people — because the listening doesn’t stop here. We’re building on what we’ve learned and launching our first listening tour, with a goal of hearing directly from more than 100,000 young people in 2026.
John, this is what it looks like to meet Gen Z where they are — showing up in their spaces, their communities, and in real time. Want to dive deeper into what we’ve learned? Check out the report here. >>> [[link removed]]
