Senator Kamala Harris (kuh-muh-luh) of California made history this week, as the first Black and first Asian American ([link removed]) woman to put her name on a major party presidential ticket.
Harris, the daughter of Jamaican and Indian immigrants ([link removed]) , brings to the ticket a long history in public service, strong focus on economic justice issues, and the tenacity to defeat Donald Trump. The Biden campaign saw a lot of pressure to pick a woman of color, including from AAAFund ([link removed]) . She is undoubtedly staring down a grueling campaign tinged by racist and sexist tropes ([link removed]) , but Senator Kamala Harris represents the future of the party and we're beyond excited.

** AAAFund endorses record number of Texas candidates

Democrats have hoped for a blue wave in Texas for ages, and this year, we're looking stronger than ever. Here's why:
1. We're running an incredible slate of candidates, including AAAFund endorsees ([link removed]) , Gina Ortiz-Jones ([link removed]) , Sri Preston Kulkarni ([link removed]) , Sima Ladjevardian ([link removed]) , and newly endorsed Lulu Seikaly ([link removed]) and Donna Imam ([link removed])
2. Texas Democratic House campaigns have out-raised ([link removed]) their GOP counterparts for the first time in years
3. The state GOP is facing internal turmoil ([link removed]) and a botched COVID-19 response ([link removed]) from Governor Greg Abbott
4. Turnout in the Democratic runoff elections this year doubled ([link removed]) the turnout in 2018, which shows the party's strength for November

Employment lawyer Lulu Seikaly ([link removed]) and computer engineer Donna Imam ([link removed]) join the ranks of AAAFund's Texas endorsees.
Lulu Seikaly is running in Texas's 3rd Congressional District, an area with a rapidly diversifying ([link removed]) , young population. The daughter of Lebanese immigrants who fled civil war, Lulu became a lawyer and worked to keep bad cops off the streets.
Donna Imam is running in Texas's 31st Congressional District, where a strong Democratic operation has been growing. She's focusing on climate change and healthcare and touts leadership experience ([link removed]) in non-profit education.
