Our teams are truly scratching their heads on Trump's offshore drilling move — his administration is planning this November surprise behind closed doors because they know that Floridians are not on their side. It should be obvious — voters in coastal states don't want oil spills in their backyards.

This is just a crazy idea — environmentally and politically. We need to go big to make sure it doesn't happen.

The problem is that in the midst of COVID-19, Trump's offshore drilling surprise is getting limited coverage. Right now, our teams have been continuing aggressive outreach targeting voters in Florida and other states that care deeply about the environment but haven't followed Trump's policies closely.

The response has been shocking — many people simply don't know about Trump's environmental record. As soon as they do know, their votes shift in a serious way. Our research shows that after a conversation with these voters, we're generating a swing of 20 points away from Trump.
