The environmental movement has a chance of swinging this thing.? ? ? ? ? Friend ? we've just received the latest polls out of Florida ? Biden and Trump are now polling dead even.
I'm reaching out today because I think we have a shot at swinging this. Here's the situation:
This year, the Trump Administration advanced plans to expand offshore drilling off Florida's coastline if Trump is re-elected. Environmentally, it's outrageous ? but politically it's also incredibly unpopular in Florida. This gives us an opening.
We have teams reaching out to voters throughout Florida right now. We're also slamming Trump with local ads on his offshore drilling plan.
The early data shows this is working ? but we urgently need to scale up. To pull that off, we're aiming to raise $70,000 more for outreach efforts before the end of the month ? and a donor has just put up a challenge match to triple every contribution until then.
I hope you'll help, if you can ? when everyone pitches in, even small donations like $5 are a big help. Please, donate to LCV Victory Fund today. Your contribution will be tripled ? [link removed]
Our teams are truly scratching their heads on Trump's offshore drilling move ? his administration is planning this November surprise behind closed doors because they know that Floridians are not on their side. It should be obvious ? voters in coastal states don't want oil spills in their backyards.
This is just a crazy idea ? environmentally and politically. We need to go big to make sure it doesn't happen.
The problem is that in the midst of COVID-19, Trump's offshore drilling surprise is getting limited coverage. Right now, our teams have been continuing aggressive outreach targeting voters in Florida and other states that care deeply about the environment but haven't followed Trump's policies closely.
The response has been shocking ? many people simply don't know about Trump's environmental record. As soon as they do know, their votes shift in a serious way. Our research shows that after a conversation with these voters, we're generating a swing of 20 points away from Trump.
It's working, friend. Now we're trying to quickly expand ? we've just put new ads on the air in Florida, hammering Trump on drilling. We're also running similar voter outreach efforts in Arizona, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin ? where environmental voters are also likely to shape the outcome of the election.
We need to do more. The latest polls have Florida as a toss-up, after Biden held a strong lead for weeks. The truth is, the environmental movement ? and what we do now ? is going to decide this election.
Your contribution could help swing this election. Please, help reach the $70,000 goal ? every dollar will be tripled. Click here to donate to LCV Victory Fund ? even $5 can make a difference ? [link removed]
This plan is still underfunded and polls are still tightening in many places ? we're reaching out for help. We're at make-or-break time. If we have to scale back on voter outreach, we lose. PERIOD.
Thank you for everything you do ? we've got a real shot at this one, but it's only going to come together with your help.
