Dear Supporter,

Did you know that federal political parties have been quietly bilking even more money from taxpayers than they usually do?

It’s true. Since March ([link removed]) , the Liberals have taken $850,000, the Conservatives $716,000, and the NDP $265,000 in additional subsidies – all from an emergency program that was intended to help struggling Canadian businesses with the pandemic shutdown.

It’s bad enough that political parties are massively subsidized in normal times with huge tax credits and reimbursements. In fact, since 2016 federal parties have received more than $200 MILLION in taxpayer subsidies ([link removed]) !

It’s outrageous, and it has to stop now – and the first step is to pay back this wage subsidy.

There is some good news. All of the Conservative Party leadership candidates have come out against parties taking the subsidy. And it’s because Canadian Taxpayers Federation supporters like you put their feet to the fire.

But we need you to send a message directly to all the party leaders.

Can you take a minute to send an email telling politicians to do the right thing and pay back the wage subsidy? Here are their email addresses:

Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau: [email protected] (mailto:[email protected])

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer: [email protected] (mailto:[email protected])

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh: [email protected] (mailto:[email protected])

Green Leader Elizabeth May: [email protected] (mailto:[email protected])

You can also sign our petition ([link removed]) and please share it with your contacts.

Thanks for everything you do,
* Aaron, Shannon, Todd and the entire CTF team

PS: For the record, the Canadian Taxpayers Federation does not take money from any government or political party. And we are not applying for any government subsidy to help us through this pandemic and economic recession. We rely on the voluntary support of tens of thousands of Canadians who believe their politicians need a watchdog to keep them honest. If you want to support our work, you can do it through this secure website: [link removed] ([link removed])

PPS: We hammered political parties on the Canadian Taxpayers Podcast ([link removed]) when they first started taking money meant for struggling Canadians. You can listen in at this LINK ([link removed]) . Or you can subscribe for free on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Stitcher and many other providers. You can even listen on our YouTube channel ([link removed]) .
