In an ahead-of-print article released this week, Jeff Romine and coauthors examining how extreme heat affects health care use and spending across major insurance programs.

The findings show consistent increases in emergency department visits during extreme heat, more limited changes in inpatient care, and no measurable impact on outpatient use.
