Friends,
COVID-19 is having a disproportionate impact on Americans with disabilities. It's shining a light on issues that have always been there but are now matters of life and death.
The Republican HEALS Act doesn't just avoid addressing the real issues here -- it would actively make it harder for many Americans to weather this COVID-19 crisis.
They want to allow businesses to exclude employees with disabilities from reopening plans, sending the message that they believe our civil rights are really just optional benefits that can be taken away whenever it's convenient or cheaper for those in power.
The truth is, Republicans are using this deadly pandemic as cover to gut the Americans with Disabilities Act. I won't let them get away with that.
So I rolled onto the Senate floor (yes, rolled, in my wheelchair) to speak up on behalf of my disabled brothers and sisters and tell Senate Republicans to stop their relentless attacks on the Americans with Disabilities Act.
I promise to always use my position in the Senate to advocate for Americans with disabilities -- but in order to keep up this important work, I'll need to win reelection. That's why I have to ask:
Will you make a contribution to support my reelection campaign today? Any amount you can afford right now helps. You can chip in here:

I am a United States Senator today because of the tireless efforts of disability advocates who pushed Congress to pass the Americans with Disabilities Act thirty years ago.
I wouldn't be here if not for people like Jennifer Keelan, an eight-year-old with cerebral palsy who dragged herself up the Capitol steps, saying "I'll take all night if I have to."
And now, as a Senator, my North Star is paying that debt of honor forward. That's what I'm doing here today.
Thank you for reading,
Tammy Duckworth
